python-cwiid software package provides library to interface with the wiimote, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-cwiid
python-cwiid is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-cwiid package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-cwiid *
You will get with python-cwiid package name, version, architecture and description in a table
